A Mortal Death.....
Category: Uncategorized

"Maria! Tatiana! Olga! Anastasia! Come!" The Tsar yelled as he picked Alexei up in his arms from the bed. Anastasia frowned as she stirred. "Papa? What is it?" Anastasia asked. "Get your coats on, we need to go," Their mother said as Tatiana hastily buttoned her coat. The sisters frowned as they all looked at one another before they moved to obey their parents. Tatiana huffed at the weight of hers. "Mine is too heavy, mama! Must we do this?" Anastasia complained as she buttoned her coat. "Yes, my love. You must. Now quickly." Nikolas commanded before he moved to the door, holding Alexei in his arms. Tatiana anxiously looked about the room. Tatiana had always had a sense for danger, like a warning of impending doom. She could feel it now, the darkness coming like a winter breeze on her skin as her father opened the door.

The soldiers stood guard and looked far from pleased. Anastasia grabbed Tatianas hand nervously at the ugly looks. They didnt like them. These soldiers hated their family. Their lives had become nothing but imprisonment and the royal children were kept from the truth of it all. But they were not stupid. They knew there was something wrong. Tatiana squared her shoulders proudly as she looked at her youngest sister. "No fear. We are Tigers. We do not know fear." Tatiana said comfortingly as she squeezed Anastasias hand. One by one, the sisters fell in line to follow their father as the soldiers escorted them through the merchants house. Tatiana could see her sisters were afraid. As she was. But as the second eldest, she kept her chin raised high and her mask of bravery firmly etched into her features.

Nikolas looked to the soldiers as they herded the family against the far wall. "Please.....leave the children alone! They have done nothing!" Nikolas begged as he set Alexei down. Anastasia moved to her younger brother and drew him back with her as their parents began arguing with the soldiers. That was when the shooting started. The girls all screamed as the soldiers opened fire. Anastasia held Alexei to try and shield him as their parents fell to the floor. Olga tried to run past the soldiers but fell dead as a bullet knocked her head back. Tatiana screamed as Olga's blood splattered her face and her coat. Shock let her frozen as she shielded her face. The girls could hear the tinking of bullets hitting off the jewels their mother had insisted they sew into their coats. They must have known death would come and tried to protect them.

"Alexei, run!" Anastasia implored as she pushed her brother. But he only dropped to the floor as Anastasia saw the gaping hole in his chest. "No! Alexei!" She screamed as she felt a bullet hit her shoulder. Tatiana ran for her younger sister as she fell backwards. "TRAITORS! COWARDS!" Tatiana screamed as she ran at one of the soldiers to try and fight him. Tatiana struck one across his face before a bayonet buried into her back from behind. Tatiana stiffened as she looked at the blade piercing through her abdomen. Maria shrieked as another soldiers shot at her, the barrage of bullets sending her to the floor. Tatiana gulped hard as the soldier withdrew the blade and she looked to Anastasia. "Ana....run....." Tatiana choked out as she tasted blood in her mouth.

Tatiana felt a numbness settle into her legs as she laid on the ground. She could feel a dampness beginning to soak through her clothes and knew it was blood. She closed her eyes in silent prayer, unable to move as she listened to the chaos around her. She could hear her mother's voice. Heard Ana fighting. Of course, Ana would go down swinging. Gods....what had they done to deserve this? She had only just turned 21. She had served as a nurse and cared for their people, some of them the very soldiers who now took such pleasure in slaughtering them. She didnt understand. Tatiana opened her eyes when she felt Anastasias trembling hand grasp her own. Tatiana tried to speak, but only a gurgling sound left her as she curled her fingers around Ana's and held it as tightly as she could.

She felt so cold now, cold to her bones as she looked down at her youngest sister. There was the sound of bullets again. Tatiana felt the impact of them but not the pain as she closed her eyes and felt the darkness of death swallow her.

She had been surprised when her eyes opened again to see a cloudy summer sky above them. Her body felt heavy. Weak. Stiff. A low moan left her and she heard a gasp. "How is this one alive!?" She heard a voice growl. "I take care of this," she heard another answer. Tatiana whimpered as she tried to move then. But her limbs wouldn't obey her. Her eyes widened as she looked up at the soldier. "P-p-please.....k-kill me...." Tatiana begged. Death was better than laying here in the dirt to suffer. The soldier merely grinned, baring fangs that made Tatianas eyes widen. "Not without a taste of royalty," He answered before he pounced on her and buried those fangs into her throat. Tatiana screamed until her throat was raw at the tearing of those fangs into her delicate skin. He tore through her like a piece of tissue paper, and what blood she had left seemed to soak her quickly as his gluttonous mouth sucked and drank from her. She saw stars of darkness again as she felt several others take hold of her arms and sink their own fangs in deep. Her eyes rolled back as she slipped away again, catching only a glimpse of her fate when a hard force suddenly sent her attackers flying.

Her eyes glazed over as she looked up. She could swear it was Ana leaning over her, bloody and glowing like a goddess of war. But it was impossible....Surely they all were dead.
