New Beginnings

Kat had been running through the woods for what seemed like hours now. Zigzagging a path through the complex maze of the forest, she hoped her trail would be lost by the pack she had just left behind. Her canine paws went through rivers, traveling upstream and coming out the other side miles down from where she first entered. Occasionally stopping to look back to the location of her pack's site and hope no one was following her. She didn't smell or hear anything in the wind and she kept heading with the wind to her back and looking for a place to hide for the night.
Though as she galloped through the wood, she couldn't get the sight of her father, the alpha, being pulled down and killed by his second in command, Valgerd. The whole pack was in pure chaos at the turn of events and no one saw it coming. Kat just knew that if she didn't get as far away as possible then the new alpha would be gunning to kill off the children of the alpha and anyone who stood loyal to him. Even if Valgerd didn't kill her, she knew what would be next in store for her. Since she was at breeding age then there could be that chance Valgerd would want her for a mate and she cringed at the thought of just giving herself over to the male who killed her father. She would break off from the pack and find a new one, or live the rest of her life as a lone wolf.
Coming to a clearing she found an old abandoned cabin. Her nose lowered to the ground as she quickly gave the place a look over and didn't smell any sign of humans living here recently. Good, she could stay the night here in peace and find a way out in the morning. She climbed up the steps of the cabin to the porch and curled herself up into a ball, her long fluffy tail flicking up and covering up her face as she closed an eye and then slowly felt the other eye drifting close and she fell completely asleep.
